Throughout the tour, we take the archaeological evidence seriously while continually asking how chronology, geography, material culture, and Egyptian history illuminate the biblical account.
EXAMINE THE ARCHAEOLOGY BEHIND THE BIBLICAL STORY
This journey is designed to move beyond simply seeing Egypt’s most famous monuments. Instead, your group examines the cities, royal periods, landscapes, and archaeological questions that surround the biblical account of Joseph, Israel in Egypt, Moses, and the Exodus.
Luxor provides the monumental world of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs. The Faiyum brings us into the Middle Kingdom landscape associated with the age of the patriarchs. The eastern Nile Delta places us directly in the region Scripture identifies as Goshen.
From there, the journey east toward the Red Sea turns geography into experience as we reflect together on one of the defining events of the Bible.

ARCHAEOLOGY & THE EXODUS ITINERARY
Journey through the archaeological landscapes most useful for exploring the biblical story of Israel in Egypt—from Cairo and the royal monuments of Luxor to the Middle Kingdom sites of the Faiyum and the eastern Nile Delta.
Each day builds toward the land of Goshen and the Red Sea, creating a chronological and geographical journey through the world of Joseph, Moses, and the Exodus.
Day 1: Across the Atlantic to Egypt
Today, tour members gather at their respective airports for the flight to Cairo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey as we make our way toward the land of the pharaohs and the world of biblical Egypt.
Day 2: Arrival in Cairo
Ahlan! Welcome to Egypt. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, we’ll be greeted by our local representative and transferred to our Cairo hotel. After check-in, we’ll enjoy dinner and relax overnight, preparing for the exciting days ahead.
Day 3: Meet, Greet, Mummies & Biblical Chronology
After breakfast, we’ll gather for a special teaching session focused on Egyptian chronology, major dynasties, and the different historical settings proposed for Joseph and the Exodus. Later, we’ll visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to come face-to-face with the royal mummies of ancient Egypt. As time permits, we’ll also explore historic Coptic Cairo.
Day 4: The GEM, Great Pyramid & Guardian of Giza
Our morning begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where artifacts from across Egypt’s history provide a remarkable foundation for the archaeological questions we’ll explore throughout the tour. Later, we’ll visit the Giza Plateau, stand beneath the Great Pyramid of Khufu, and see the Great Sphinx while discussing the development of Egyptian civilization, engineering, geology, and chronology.
Day 5: The Temples of Thebes & the Power of Pharaoh
This morning we’ll fly south to Luxor. Our first stop is the immense Karnak Temple Complex, where inscriptions, monuments, and colossal architecture reveal the political and religious power of New Kingdom Egypt. We’ll also visit the Luxor Museum and, later, Luxor Temple, examining the world of the pharaohs and the culture that surrounded Egypt’s imperial age.
Day 6: Kings, Tombs & Records in Stone
Today we’ll cross the Nile to the west bank of ancient Thebes. In the Valley of the Kings, we’ll enter richly decorated royal tombs and examine Egyptian beliefs about death and the afterlife. We’ll continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu, and the Colossi of Memnon, paying special attention to historical inscriptions, royal propaganda, and the kinds of evidence archaeologists use to reconstruct Egypt’s past.
Day 7: Pharaohs, Foundations & First Pyramids
After an early flight back to Cairo, we’ll travel to Saqqara and Dahshur. At Saqqara, the Step Pyramid of Djoser provides a major landmark in Egypt’s architectural development. At Dahshur, the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid allow us to trace the experimentation that led toward Giza while placing Egypt’s long chronology into a tangible archaeological sequence.
Day 8: Faiyum Oasis & the World of Joseph
Today we’ll journey into the Faiyum region, an area of enormous agricultural and archaeological importance. Visits may include the mudbrick pyramids of Hawara and Lahun and the striking Meidum Pyramid. We’ll discuss the 12th Dynasty, Egypt’s Middle Kingdom administration, the lost capital region of Itjtawy, and why this period plays such an important role in discussions surrounding the historical world of Joseph.
Day 9: From Goshen to the Red Sea
Today we’ll travel into the eastern Nile Delta—the biblical land of Goshen. At Tanis, fallen obelisks, colossal statues, temples, and royal tombs reveal the importance of northern Egypt. Throughout the day, we’ll consider Israel’s presence in Egypt, Delta archaeology, the cities and geography connected with the Exodus account, and the route eastward. From Goshen, we’ll continue across the desert toward the Red Sea for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Red Sea Reflection & the Exodus Story
After breakfast, we’ll gather for a special wrap-up session along the Red Sea, bringing together the chronology, archaeology, geography, and biblical themes explored throughout our journey. The remainder of the day offers time for fellowship and relaxation along the coast before we return to Cairo for our final overnight.
Day 11: Farewells & Flights Home
After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Cairo International Airport for our return flights home. We leave with a deeper understanding of the evidence, landscapes, questions, and historical world surrounding one of Scripture’s greatest stories.
