Biblical Egypt & the Nile combines the essential sites of Cairo and Giza with Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, and a multi-day journey along the Nile through Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan, Philae, and Abu Simbel.

Stand beneath the Great Pyramid, encounter the royal mummies, walk among the colossal temples of ancient Thebes, sail past the palm-lined banks of the Nile, and explore some of the most spectacular monuments ever built in Egypt.

Throughout the journey, archaeology, geography, history, and Scripture are woven together to help your group better understand Egypt and the wider ancient world in which the biblical story took place.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE HEART OF ANCIENT EGYPT

The Nile was the lifeline of ancient Egypt. Its annual waters sustained cities, temples, agriculture, trade, and the civilization that forms the setting for so much of the Old Testament world.

This eleven-day journey begins with Cairo’s great museums and pyramid fields before traveling south to ancient Thebes. From Luxor, your group follows the Nile through a changing landscape of temples, villages, desert cliffs, and fertile riverbanks toward Aswan and Abu Simbel.

It is the classic Egypt experience, but with biblical teaching and archaeological context intentionally woven into the journey from beginning to end.

BIBLICAL EGYPT & THE NILE ITINERARY

Step into the world of ancient Egypt on an eleven-day journey from Cairo to the temples and tombs of Upper Egypt.

From standing beneath the Great Pyramid to sailing the Nile and walking through the monumental temples of Luxor, each day is designed to reveal the geography, religion, history, and archaeology of the civilization that forms such an important backdrop to Scripture.

Day 1: Across the Atlantic to Egypt
Today, tour members gather at their respective airports for the flight to Cairo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey as we make our way toward the land of the pharaohs and the world of biblical Egypt.

Day 2: Arrival in Cairo
Ahlan! Welcome to Egypt. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, we’ll be greeted by our local representative and transferred to our Cairo hotel. After check-in, we’ll enjoy dinner and relax overnight, preparing for the exciting days ahead.

Day 3: Meet, Greet, Mummies & Christian Cairo
After breakfast, we’ll gather for a special orientation and teaching session introducing the chronology and history of ancient Egypt and the biblical framework for the journey. Later, we’ll visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to see its remarkable collection and royal mummies. As time permits, we’ll also explore historic Coptic Cairo and its important Christian heritage.

Day 4: The GEM, Great Pyramid & Guardian of Giza
Today begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to treasures spanning thousands of years of Egyptian history. Later, we’ll travel to the legendary Giza Plateau and stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu, explore the pyramid complex, and visit the Great Sphinx while discussing archaeology, engineering, history, geology, and the biblical setting of ancient Egypt.

Day 5: The Temples of Thebes & the Nile
This morning we’ll take an early flight south to Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes. We’ll begin at the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious complexes ever built, and continue to Luxor Temple. As cruise schedules allow, we’ll board our Nile ship and settle in for the next stage of our journey through Upper Egypt.

Day 6: Tut, Tombs & Towering Tributes
Today we’ll cross to Luxor’s west bank to explore the Valley of the Kings, burial place of many of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs. We’ll continue to the striking Temple of Hatshepsut, the colorful walls and historical inscriptions of Medinet Habu, and the towering Colossi of Memnon. Later, we’ll return to the ship and begin sailing south along the Nile.

Day 7: Edfu, Kom Ombo & Life Along the Nile
After breakfast, we’ll visit the remarkably preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu. We then continue downriver to Kom Ombo, where the unusual twin temple complex overlooks the Nile. Between sites, enjoy the ever-changing river landscape and a view of Egyptian life that travelers have experienced for thousands of years.

Day 8: Abu Simbel & the Monumental Age of Ramses II
Today we’ll travel south from Aswan to the spectacular rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel. Built for Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, these monumental temples provide an unforgettable look at royal power, Egyptian religion, and the propaganda of one of Egypt’s most famous pharaohs. We’ll return to Aswan for our overnight.

Day 9: Philae, Aswan & Return to Cairo
Our final day in Upper Egypt includes a boat ride to the beautiful island temple of Philae. As time and schedules allow, we’ll also see the Unfinished Obelisk and other highlights of Aswan before flying back to Cairo for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Pharaohs, Foundations & First Pyramids
Today we’ll travel south of Cairo to Saqqara and Dahshur. At Saqqara, we’ll visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser, one of Egypt’s earliest large-scale stone monuments. At Dahshur, the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid allow us to trace the development of pyramid construction leading toward the monumental achievements at Giza.

Day 11: Farewells & Flights Home
After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Cairo International Airport for our return flights home. We leave Egypt with unforgettable memories of the pyramids, the Nile, and the extraordinary world of ancient Egypt experienced through the lens of biblical history.
