10-Day Foundations of Faith
From the Patriarchs to the Early Church
Experience biblical and ancient Egypt on a private ten-day journey through Cairo, Alexandria, the Faiyum, the eastern Nile Delta, and the Red Sea—designed especially for churches, ministries, schools, and Christian groups.
Foundations of Faith expands beyond the essential Cairo highlights to follow several important chapters of Egypt’s biblical story: the world of the patriarchs, Israel’s years in Egypt, the Exodus, and Egypt’s remarkable early Christian heritage.
Stand beneath the Great Pyramid, encounter the royal mummies, explore Mediterranean Alexandria, visit Middle Kingdom pyramid sites in the Faiyum, walk through the biblical land of Goshen, and finish the journey along the Red Sea.
Throughout the tour, archaeology, history, geography, and Scripture come together to provide a broad and memorable introduction to the many ways Egypt intersects with the world of the Bible.
FOLLOW THE BIBLICAL STORY ACROSS NORTHERN EGYPT
Egypt’s role in the biblical story stretches far beyond a single period. Abraham entered Egypt during famine, Joseph rose to power in the land of the pharaohs, Israel lived in Goshen, Moses confronted Pharaoh, and Egypt later became home to one of the ancient world’s most important Christian communities.
This ten-day itinerary is built around that wider story. Cairo and the pyramid fields introduce the monumental world of ancient Egypt, the Faiyum highlights the Middle Kingdom setting associated with the age of the patriarchs, the eastern Delta places your group in Goshen, and Alexandria opens a window into the Hellenistic and early Christian centuries.
The result is a tour with unusual variety but without the internal flights and extended travel required for a full Upper Egypt and Nile itinerary.

FOUNDATIONS OF FAITH ITINERARY
Travel through several of the great settings of biblical and Christian history on a ten-day journey centered on northern Egypt.
From the monumental age of the pyramids to the world of Joseph, from Alexandria’s Christian heritage to Goshen and the Red Sea, this itinerary is designed to show how the story of Egypt unfolds across both Scripture and history.
Day 1: Across the Atlantic to Egypt
Today, tour members gather at their respective airports for the flight to Cairo. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey as we make our way toward the land of the pharaohs and the world of biblical Egypt.
Day 2: Arrival in Cairo
Ahlan! Welcome to Egypt. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, we’ll be greeted by our local representative and transferred to our Cairo hotel. After check-in, we’ll enjoy dinner and relax overnight, preparing for the exciting days ahead.
Day 3: Meet, Greet, Mummies & Christian Cairo
After breakfast, we’ll gather for a special meet-and-greet and teaching session introducing the chronology and history of ancient Egypt and the biblical framework for the journey. Later, we’ll visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and come face-to-face with the royal mummies of ancient Egypt. We’ll also explore historic Coptic Cairo, where ancient churches and traditions preserve the story of Egypt’s enduring Christian heritage.
Day 4: The GEM, Great Pyramid & Guardian of Giza
Our day begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where extraordinary treasures from across Egypt’s long history help us place the people and periods of the Bible into their larger cultural setting. Later, we’ll travel to the Giza Plateau to stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu, explore the pyramid complex, and visit the famous Great Sphinx. Along the way, we’ll discuss archaeology, engineering, geology, history, and the biblical world.
Day 5: Alexandria: From Alexander to the Early Church
Today we’ll travel north to the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great and later one of the intellectual and Christian centers of the ancient world. Our day may include the remarkable Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, the Greco-Roman remains of Kom el-Dikka, the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the Qaitbay Citadel overlooking the site of the ancient Pharos lighthouse. As schedule and access allow, we’ll also highlight Alexandria’s early Christian heritage and the city associated with Apollos in the book of Acts.
Day 6: Pharaohs, Foundations & First Pyramids
Today we’ll travel south of Cairo to Saqqara and Dahshur. At Saqqara, we’ll explore the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, one of Egypt’s earliest large-scale stone monuments. We then continue to Dahshur, home to the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid. Together, these sites allow us to trace the development of royal pyramid construction and better understand the world that preceded the great monuments at Giza.
Day 7: Faiyum Oasis & the World of Joseph
After breakfast, we’ll journey into the Faiyum region to explore archaeology from the Middle Kingdom—the period that provides an especially important backdrop for studying the world of the biblical patriarchs. Visits may include the mudbrick pyramids of Hawara and Lahun, along with the striking Meidum Pyramid. Throughout the day, we’ll discuss the 12th Dynasty, the agricultural importance of the Faiyum, and the historical setting often considered when studying Joseph’s life in Egypt.
Day 8: From Goshen to the Red Sea
Today we’ll leave Cairo and journey into the eastern Nile Delta—the region associated with the biblical land of Goshen. We’ll explore Tanis, with its fallen obelisks, colossal statues, temple remains, and royal monuments, while discussing Israel’s years in Egypt and the geography of the Exodus. From the Delta, we’ll continue east across the desert toward the Red Sea, symbolically following the movement of the Exodus story. Dinner and overnight will be at a Red Sea resort.
Day 9: Red Sea Reflection & Return to Cairo
After breakfast, we’ll gather for a special wrap-up time reflecting on the history, archaeology, and biblical connections we’ve encountered across Egypt. The remainder of the morning offers time to enjoy the Red Sea coast before we make our way back toward Cairo for our final overnight.
Day 10: Farewells & Flights Home
After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Cairo International Airport for our return flights home. We leave Egypt with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for the land that shaped so many chapters of biblical and Christian history.
